ABOUT US
Hi. My name is Deborah and I'm glad you are here! Picking a therapist can be a challenging experience and I appreciate you taking the time to explore this site and see if Gravity Sexual Health and Counseling may be a good fit for you. It is my hope that all who come to Gravity will find it a welcoming and affirming space; a place where support and challenge are experienced in equal measure; and where a willingness to explore pain and possibilities is rewarded with newly discovered joys.

EXPERIENCE
In 25 years as a counselor, I have met with people of all ages- children, adolescents and adults; and in all sorts of relationships- individuals, couples, groups, friends and families. I believe therapy is a partnership, a mutual commitment between therapist and client(s). Together we work to resolve bothersome and painful life situations, building solutions that provide support, empower personal growth, and engender a sense of well-being.
As a certified sex therapist I have particular expertise in topics of sexuality, gender, and orientation. I believe all people can benefit from having a safe place to talk about sexual concerns and receive help and support coming to a place of peace and acceptance of self and sexuality. My work regularly addresses issues related to gender and orientation, and I have worked extensively with youth and adults addressing safe boundaries, positive sexuality, and building healthy sexual relationships.

EDUCATION and TRAINING
My educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Dartmouth College and a Master's degree in Counseling from the University of Colorado. I have received specialized training as a sex educator and therapist from the University of Michigan.
I hold licenses in both Minnesota (LPCC) and Wisconsin (LPC) as a professional counselor and am an approved counselor supervisor in the state of Minnesota.
As no single treatment approach is right for everyone, I have been trained in a range of therapeutic modalities including Sex Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
